Being an orthodontist is my dream job! I love being able to help people gain confidence and improve their health in a fun environment. Creating individualized smiles is my passion. I enjoy getting to know my patients and their families and learning about their lives and interests.
Making sure my patients are comfortable in all aspects of their care is extremely important. I have a background in pediatric dentistry, which has taught me to be extra sensitive to the needs of my patients (of all ages)!
I love learning about a wide variety of subjects, which made deciding on a career path difficult. After graduating valedictorian, I followed in my family’s footsteps to Oklahoma State University where I majored in Art History and Physiology. I was deciding between applying to graduate school to become a museum curator or medical school when I spent a summer in India on a medical service trip.
During my time in Mumbai I rotated through a cleft lip and palate hospital. I met a dentist there and learned not only the huge impact surgeons made on children’s lives but also the complexities involved in how teeth are arranged in their mouths and the affect on quality of life. This first sparked my interest in dentistry and when I returned home I applied to dental school at the University of Oklahoma. I was fortunate at OU to have a strong clinical foundation and great teachers in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics. My energetic personality and the fun I have working with kids prompted me to become a pediatric dentist. I completed my two-year pediatric dentistry residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. I absolutely loved living in NYC and the program at Montefiore.
I was always interested in orthodontics, but realized I wanted to know all the details about my pediatric patients’ treatments! I applied to orthodontic residencies all over the country, but was so happy to match at Montefiore for three more years.
I practiced in Brooklyn, NY and Chicagoland for over two years as a pediatric dentist and orthodontist. While I am now limiting my practice to concentrate on orthodontics, my training as a pediatric dentist allows me to have a deeper understanding of growth and development of facial structures and the dentition and enriches my skills as an orthodontist.

OUTSIDE THE OFFICE
I’m originally from the great state of Oklahoma! Growing up in Oklahoma City around friendly people with strong family values helped shaped me into the person I am today. My family and friends are very important to me. I absolutely love to travel and am fortunate to have been to many places all around the world. I continue to frequent museums and learn about history and art. I am passionate about animal rescue and have always been involved with local humane societies. I also enjoy running, particularly training for half marathons.
My husband, Dr. Nick Riccio, is a Glen Ellyn native. He often talks about the benefits of growing up in a community with a small town feel outside of Chicago. I have grown to appreciate the charm and sense of community in the western suburbs of Chicago, as well. We recently welcomed our baby boy, Massimo, into the world and are bursting with love! We are very excited to call Hinsdale home and raise our family here!
